Evaluation and notes
Roll 1272
Where are my developing notes for this roll? There is no developing write-up for roll 1272. Anyway, dropping it here: 1272 is Kentmere 400 and looks to have been developed in Rodinal? Purely by visual inspection.
Similar to the Fomapan from the previous roll on the same day, this is nice and crisp, and the amount of grain is quite restrained for the film speed. Edges are well-defined. Again, the sculptures look great and are the stars of the show. There’s some nice contrasty vegetal shots at the end of the roll, too.
Super-pleased with this roll. Too bad I don’t have notes that would let me replicate it.
Roll 1281
Roll as a whole is basically a loss. The entire thing is under-developed, or perhaps under-exposed. Maybe this is one of those circumstances where the minimum-amount-of-Rodinal-should-b3-6mL-per roll guildeline should have been followed but wasn’t. Or maybe the light meter needed a fresh battery. Or maybe stand development just isn’t a good move for Film Washi F. We’ll never know, because there’s no record of developing procedure for this roll.
Almost nothing here is usable even for oddball purposes.
Roll 1282p
I seem to vaguely recall developing this roll in Caffenol?
Anyway, the big take-away is that the cheap 35mm panoramic camera I picked up at the thrift store has terrible light leaks. Practically nothing here is usable.
Too bad, would have been fun to have a 35mm panoramic camera to play with again.
Roll 1291
Kind of a disappointing roll, all in all. Yes, it’s properly exposed and developed, though some things. But in many cases the dynamic range of the film isn’t enough for the subject, especially in the first half of the roll. Plenty of shots are at awkward angles there, too. And the subject matters at this particular beer fest were just not that interesting.
THe second half of the roll is more visually interesting but has more real problems with processing, including parts where the film was folded over itself in the reels. There are some shots where the film really shines in whatever the developer is — shots 19 and 20 are maybe the best examples here &mbash; but the grain texture is smooth and the composition is much more pleasing, despite how cluttered the area was visually.
