Two rolls of Fomapan 100 marketed as Lomography Earl Gray, both shot at EI 100 on the Pentax K1000, on 35mm rolls in the 120 tank.

Used leftover Caffenol CL from rolls 1237, et al. Pre-wet film ~1 hour at room temperature. Poured out water, then poured in developer; agitated 20x over 30 seconds, then 15x at 37 minutes, to a total developing time of 70 minutes. Alternated orientation at each agitation to avoid uneven development.

After 70 minutes, disposed of developer, rinsed in 68 degree tap water, filling and emptying the tank until the water rinsed completely clear, then four more times. Fixed in Ilford Rapid Fixer 1+4 for 5 minutes (that’s now 24 rolls from this batch of fixer), turning 10x over 15 seconds at the top of every minute. Recaptured fixer and rinsed for ten minutes, then emptied tank, added a few drops of Photo-Flo, filled tank again and agitated 20x, and hung negatives vertically to dry.

Evaluation and notes

Roll 1241

Noticing again that Fomapan looks great in Caffenol. I still think this is overdeveloped, even though plenty of usable negatives turned out; it looks too bright in some places, notably in the North Mississippi Regional Park shots, and the shadows are underdeveloped. But, again, via-HDR scanning saves the cloud detail in the sky quite often.

The response curve is nice and even, and the textures in wood and brick are crisp and detailed.

Roll 1242

Again, overdeveloped: most noticeably and regrettably in the shots of the flamingoes. Again, nice and crisp: the leaf and water textures from the arboretum are especially good here, though they’d be improved with more shadow density left.

Plenty of good stuff on this roll despite overdevelopment.
