Two rolls of Ilford Delta 3200, both shot at EI 1000 at the recent Midge Ure show at the Soiled Dove Underground, Both rolls were shot using the Pentax K-1000 and the 80mm-200mm zoom lens. I’m developing them on 35mm rolls in the 120 tank, with the lower number on the bottom, as always. I’ve loved my recent results with Rodinal, so I’m trying it here. THe venue was so dark that the light meter in the camera wasn’t registering, so I guessed and bracketed, keeping the aperature as wide open and possible and trying speeds from 1/125 to 1/8. With a lens this heavy, I doubt I’ll get much at 1/8 and 1/15, but I have rather steady hands, paid attention to my breathing, and I might have gotten lucky here and there. I’m pushing a bit by adding an additional 2mL of Rodinal to the mix, and I’m agitating three times instead of one—every fifteen minutes instead of every thirty—in hopes of hedging my bets a little here. Since rolls 1155 and 1157 looked a little thin when they dried (though I have not yet put them in the scanner), I’m agitating a little more here: ~40x over the first minute, then 10x over 15 seconds every fifteen minutes.

Pre-wet film. Mixed 8.5mL Rodinal in 400mL of water, poured that into the tank, then topped off the tank with water (that’s approx. 1+53). Agitated ~40x over first minute, then 10x over 15 seconds at 15:00, 30:00, and 45:00. Alternated orientation at each agitation to avoid uneven development.

After 60 minutes, disposed of developer, rinsed in 68 degree water, filling and emptying the tank repeatedly. Fixed in Ilford Rapid Fixer 1+4 for 6 minutes (that’s now 33 rolls from this batch of fixer, 23 since replenishment), turning 10x over 15 seconds at the top of every minute. Recaptured fixer and rinsed for ten minutes, then emptied tank, added a few drops of Photo-Flo, filled tank again and agitated 20x, finger-squeegied negatives, and hung horizontally to dry.
