All shot on the Pentax K-1000, but the later rolls are partially shot with the new 80mm–200mm telephoto lens that’s part of my Christmas present from Xenia.

Another five-reel tank day! I’m filling all five reels this time; I’m developing a pair of C-41s in the two-reel tank at the same time, so I’m making extra Caffenol anyway.

This is being processed at the same time as rolls 1136-1137 (in the 120 tank), and is also being processed at 62 degrees to see what effect that has on grain and tone. This’ll be a two-hour development at 62 degrees, as that worked well during the previous five-roll day.

Mixed 1L Caffenol C-L: 16g waterfree washing soda, 10g Vitamin C, and 40g instant coffee (Nescafe Taster’s Choice). Note that there is no idodized salt here: the highest ISO in the tank is 125, so I ‘m assuming that I won’t need a restrainer at all. In any case, I’m using 150mL of Caffenol-CL left over from rolls 1136-1137, so there is, proportionally, 1.5g of iodized salt in the 1150mL of developer in this tank, or the equivalent of 1.35g of salt per liter. Pre-wet for ~20 minutes while mixing and beginning to type up these plans. Used leftover additional Caffenol C-L from rolls 1136 and 1137, which are currently developing in the two-reel tank. Note to self: I really only needed to mix up 750mL of solution for batch 1136-1137, not 1L; this would even have left some over.

Poured out pre-wetting water, then poured developer into tank and noted time. Agitated gently 20x over first 30 seconds, then put into picnic cooler with cool water. Agitated 15x over 30 seconds at 7:30 in. Agitated gently 10x at 15 minutes in, then every fifteen minutes thereafter, alternating top with bottom to ensure even development, and always knocking on the bottom to dislodge air bubbles, and always putting it back into the picnic cooler.

Rinsed ~5 minutes in tap water at ~68 degrees, emptying container entirely multiple times. Fixed in Ilford Rapid Fixer 1+4 (that’s now 30 rolls from this 1.5L batch of fixer, 20 since replenishment), agitating 10x every minute for six minutes. Reclaimed fixer, then rinsed 10 minutes in ~68 degree water. Added a small amount of Photo-Flo to the water in the tank, agitated for thirty seconds, dumped water. Shook reels, then hung the negatives vertically to dry.
