Rolls 1113 and 1114: Ilford PanF+ @ EI 50 // Caffenol CL semi-stand
- 1114: Avery Invitational.
- 1113: I-25. Parker.
Two rolls of PanF+ 50. I love this film.
Mixed 1L Caffenol C-L, and used half: 16g waterfree washing soda, 10g Vitamin C, 15g iodized table salt, and 40g instant coffee (Kroger). Pre-wet for ~20 minutes while beginning to type up these plans. All chemistry is at 75 degrees today: that’s the lowest I can get the water in the middle of summer here! Oh well, stand development is supposed to be tolerant, right?
Poured out pre-wetting water, then poured developer into tank and started timer for 70 minutes. Agitated gently 15x over first 30 seconds, then let stand at edge of sink. Agitated 15x over 30 seconds at 9:30 in. Agitated gently 10x at 15 minutes in, then every fifteen minutes thereafter, alternating each time which end tank rested on, and always knocking on the bottom to dislodge air bubbles..
Rinsed ~5 minutes in tap water at ~75 degrees, emptying container entirely multiple times. Fixed in Ilford Rapid Fixer 1+4 (that’s now 4 rolls from this batch of fixer), agitating 10x every minute for seven minutes. Reclaimed fixer, then rinsed 10 minutes in 75 degree water. Then remembered that I had Photo-Flo, so I poured a very small amount into the water in the tank, agitated for thirty seconds, dumped water. Shook reels, then hung the negatives horizontally to dry.
Roll 1113 is badly underexposed, and has hair-style damage and water spots. IIRC, now that I think about it, it was metered at ISO 400 from a previous roll; but I didn’t mark it on the cannister when it was discovered. Sigh.
Roll 1114 is slightly underdeveloped, but the real problem is that ISO 50 film is inappropriate for a beer festival. But some of the pictures are beautiful, the reasons why I like PanF+ in Caffenol.
