A wildflower mead, using a jar of rich dark honey that we bought in southern Louisiana.

Procedure

Standard procedure: Sanitized, then mixed honey and powders and water, then agitated thoroughly by shaking. Pitched yeast and measured gravity. Popped in and filled an airlock.

Brew date: 18 June 2018.
Original gravity: 1.110.
Bottling date: 5 December 2018
Final gravity: 1.036.
Calculated ABV: about 11%.

Yield: TBD; hopefully, about a gallon.

  • 1 x 1L IKEA swing-top bottle
  • 2 x 500 mL swing-top beer bottles
  • 2 x 22 oz. beer bottles

Total: About 111 fl. oz., or about 87% of a gallon.

Observations

  • 2018-06-19T11:00: There's already plenty of bubbling in the carboy.
  • 2018-12-05T19:45: Bottled, yielding 87% of a gallon at 11% ABV.
