Here is the list of potential interview questions, which we developed in class on 29 October. I've organized them according to whether I personally think that they are lower-level questions (which might be one productive way to start off), medium-level, or higher-level questions (toward which you might want to try to steer the conversation).
Lower-level Questions
What kind of writing do you produce? How does writing like this influence knowledge in your field?
What is your own writing practice like in your work? Do you have a regular writing routine?
How do you evaluate student writing?
Which people in your field do you admire? What do you admire about them?
What kinds of media do (and/or don't) work well for you when you're teaching?
How important is original analysis in student work in your field?
Medium-level Questions
How do you make word and phrasing choices in your own writing?
What does it mean to write well in your discipline?
How do you deal with students in class if they are bored or tired?
How important is it to use your discipline's specific terminology in your own work? How important is it in student work?
